JCPRD provides the community with recreational soccer fields and programs throughout the year for youth ages 4 through 14. The course is lined with Zoysia grass fairways and beautiful Bent grass greens which provide great golf conditions year-round. Three lakes, as well as Coffee Creek, bring water into play on 11 of the 18 holes. Heritage Park Golf Course offers an exceptional combination of traditional tree-lined and links-type holes which provide an interesting, challenging and picturesque game. Varying levels of terrain and obstacles will challenge beginners and experienced players alike while enjoying a scenic view of Heritage Park. The 18-hole, 54-par course is available for public use year-round. JCPRD's other off-leash areas are located in Shawnee Mission Park, Thomas S Stoll Memorial Park, and Kill Creek Streamway Park (at the 95th Street access point). Trespassing is prohibited when the gate is locked. Please note that for the enjoyment of all patrons and pets, all JCPRD Off-Leash Area Code of Conduct/Rules (PDf) apply. Closures are intended to allow for a higher level of maintenance to the area without compromising dog, patron, and staff safety. Weekly maintenance is scheduled every Tuesday from 5 a.m. The off-leash parking, gates, sidewalks, restrooms, and drinking fountains are ADA compliant. The parking lot and restroom are located near the Lackman Road and West 161st entrance. The off-leash area has two paved accessible parking spots near each of the three gated entrances into the off-leash area. The looped trails system is a combination of both paved and hiking trails, with a portion of the trail being accessible. There are also tall shade trees and a tall grassy play area. ![]() The off-leash area is a maintained grass field with varied levels of terrain. The 40-acre lake is great for fishing and boating.
